“A French Affair”
This year’s festival is a celebration of the French Hybrid Lilacs.
Arriving in North America from Europe in the 19th century, modern day hybrids of the lilac produce masses of blooms in a wide spectrum of colours. These range from the traditional pink and purple lilacs to lesser known varieties of yellow, white, blue and burgundy.
A variety of floret shapes and colours are all on view and for sale during the 2012 Warkworth Lilac Festival.
